Finding A New Village and "4th Floor, Last Door" Miracles

Hello!!

Wow it has been long since I have sent an email. Sorry for that but I have some time today so I figured I would share a few highlights from the past month or so.

We just got back this weekend from traveling to Tamale, Techiman, and Sunyani. We started our long road trip again for zone conferences, but this time we were joined by our office elders. It was nice to drive with them not only for the company for the long car ride but also to rotate drivers. Driving that long 10 hour drive gets tiring by yourself, so it was nice to have others in the car who knew how to drive.

I have mentioned it before but on the way up to tamale we always pass little villages along the way. Villages with mud/grass huts. I have always had the desire to stop along the road and to visit with the people in these villages. Well this time we did stop! I was excited to meet the people and visit with them. We pulled off to the side and drove down a dirt road to their village. When we got there, the people were scared at first. I don't think they had ever seen a white guy before. We walked up to the kids and soon some adults came out. We tried to introduce ourselves in English but we could tell they had no clue what we were saying. My companion then tried to speak to them in Twi. All of them then pointed and called to a house. In the house was a man who could speak the twi small. My companion talked to the man and introduces ourselves. The man said that the village spoke a language that none of us had ever heard before. The man then relayed our introduction to the rest of the kids and adults. We went around and gave them all a fist bump and they got more comfortable. Although we couldn't understand each other you could feel the love from these people. We found a ball and started to play futball with the kids and just started to have some fun. Talking with the man, these were very humble people. They had no power, no clean water, and lived off of the bare minimum. They were grateful for what they had and were just the sweetest people. We gave them toffees and spent some small time with them. You know its these experiences that you really think about yourself and your attitude in life. Some people don't have power, nor clean water and I find myself complaining that the power is out, that the fans aren't working, or about the struggle of living in Africa. Then I come to a place like this and meet these people, I have nothing to complain about, nothing at all. We should make the best of our situations and be grateful for what we have because it could be a lot worse.

If y'all remember brother Kwesi and kelvin the father and son we baptized last month, they are doing so well. Brother Kwesi and kelvin now have the priesthood and have strong testimonies of the Gospel. Brother Kwesi is continuing to have the desire to learn more and more and more. He would like us to come and teach him every day if we could. He has started to teach his friends about the things we have discussed. He often asks his friends if they know where they come from or if they know why they are here on earth or if they know where they are going after this life. He also has been talking to his wife about how his life has changed from joining the church. He has been talking with his wife about the plan of salvation and the restoration. He has asked that his wife stop selling black tea and coffee at their shop and he has asked his wife if it would be okay if they stopped selling on Sundays. Keep in mind his wife is not a member yet. Brother Kwesi is and will continue to be a solid member of the church. Through him we have been able to start teaching him and his wife. We have been teaching the wife and she came to church three Sundays ago and has been coming ever since! This is one of my favorite families that I have met in Ghana and I will be very sad when the time comes to leave them. I am waiting for the day I am able to see a picture of them at the temple

Sister Vida (brother Kwesi's wife) has been coming to church for the past couple of weeks. We have loved getting to know her and their wonderful family. Last Sunday sister Vida showed up with two of her friends! Sister Comfort and sister Benice. We met with them on Sunday and got to know them a bit more. We are now starting to teach them but it was just an awesome sight to see. I'll give you a bit of back story on the miracle of Comfort and Benice. This was the Sunday before we were leaving for a week for zone conferences. We had prayerfully set a goal of 4 elect to be baptized this transfer and we needed to find them quick because we were going to be gone for two weeks. So we set our goal at the beginning of the transfer and we had a week to find 4 people. The Lord helped us find 2 people and it was just left with two. It got later in the week and we had met a mother and son. We didn't know if they were the elect or not at first so we were waiting to see if they would come to church. They were our last hope in finding the rest of our people before we left for our trip. Sunday morning we went to that house with the mom and son to pick them to go to church. We got there and they weren't ready, the boy was fetching water for a neighbor and the mom was going to a funeral. We were kind of disappointed because again this was our last hope in finding the last two people before our trip. We got to church and church started. Just before the sacrament was administered we saw sister Vida, brother Kwesi and two other ladies (Comfort, and Benice) walk through the door. This was a miracle, it was the fourth floor, last door and at that moment I knew it was only by God's grace that we were able to find these two ladies. It happened at the last moment before our trip, sometimes that is how faith works. It's not until we have given our all and have done everything we possibly could, then the only possible thing to happen is for a miracle to happen. When there is no other option but for God to put forth his hand and perform a miracle. I love this Gospel so much! I am constantly learning and growing, each and every day brings new opportunities. God is so good.

These are just a couple of the great experiences I have been having. We are still staying busy. This week we have zone conferences part two on Kumasi. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we have zone conferences. We are giving instructions in each of them. We are also planning for our missionary leadership council zoom meeting in a week, so like I said it never seems to end, lol. We have a total of about 10 days in our area this transfer so we are trying to make the most of it. Every moment counts and it's a lot of early mornings and late nights. I wouldn't want it any other way though.

I hope everyone is doing great back home, thanks for all the love. I love you all and hope you have a great week!
