Getting a New Companion

Hi everyone!

Well this transfer went by so fast. It has already come to an end. My companion Elder Binene leaves on Wednesday to go home. I will pick up my new companion tonight! His name is Elder Yeboah, and he is from Ghana. He is super cool, we will enjoy the time we have together. It will also be nice to have a Ghanaian who can speak Twi. I'll learn as much as I can from him, but he will also be a great help to our group in Kwanouma.

I have loved this past transfer with Elder Binene, although it has gone by incredibly fast. I have learned a lot and now will move on to this next transfer to continue to learn. This new position that I am in keeps me really busy, which I am enjoying.

This next week we have transfers week which is one of the busiest weeks of the transfer. We are running missionaries around, doing trainings, meetings, transfers, and so much more. We will welcome Elder Yeboah in with a very packed full week. We have already planned for the upcoming transfer and it will be just as busy if not more busy then this past transfer. It makes the time go by fast and we have some neat experiences. We get to meet and create a relationship with the missionaries, and get to see different sides of the mission. It's been a great experience and I'm loving it!

We went and played football this morning with some missionaries. My comp wanted one last farewell match before he went home. We woke up early and went to the stake center and played. It had been awhile since I have played football and so man I was definitely out of shape. I have to start running or something, cuz it was kinda embarrassing lol. But on the other hand I get up and feel the heat of the sun and I am like, yup no its okay, I'm good.

We traveled to Konongo again, but this time we went a bit further and went to Nkawkaw to have an exchange with some elders. It was so pretty, its the Bush of Ghana. Super green, dirt roads and the mountains. Its nice we have the opportunity to explore a lot of Ghana, we get to see plenty places and they are all different. That's one thing I absolutely love about Ghana is the landscape. Its super beautiful out here. Although it is super hot, we are getting into dry season and you can definitely feel it.

Yesterday all of the stake leaders came to our group in Kwanouma. We filled sister Conadu's house and didn't have room for everyone as the room was too small. It was a great sacrament meeting though. After church they all stayed and walked in our area with us. We talked to everyone and contacted plenty of people. So many new faces and people we will have to follow up with. We will have to find a balance with the work that we are doing for the mission and the work we have in our area. We will manage but I'm just glad that I will have a Twi speaker to help out in our area.

I hope everyone is doing well back home! Enjoying the colder weather that is coming. I am super jealous you guys have the cold weather. It is getting really hot now and it will just get hotter and hotter as time goes on, just in time for Christmas!! Yay. Man I'll be excited to celebrate Christmas in cold weather again. But I hope you are all having fun and staying safe back home! Thank you again for your love and support, it means a lot. I love you guys!

From the Top to the Bottom of the Mission

Hi everyone!

What a great week it has been. We have been so busy I don't even know where the time has gone. Last week we had exchanges every single day with our Zone leaders and our Sister Training Leaders. It was fun to be with them and help them with their zones. The mission is improving little by little. It has come so far since I got here, I often think back to when I first got here and the improvement that has happened. Great things are happening in the Ghana Kumasi Mission.

Last Monday we started our road trip for zone conferences. We drove up Monday morning to Techiman and had an exchange that night, and another one the next day with the Zone leaders. We drove to Sunyani and had a zone Conference and then traveled back to Techiman for the night. That next day we drove to Tamale, for the Tamale zone conference the next day. In Tamale we were eating with the elders and we had rice, beans and some meat. Now, I am used to just eating everything now. Most of the time it is mystery meat and so you just eat it and don't care what it is. Well I heard that up north they like to chop dog but I never thought I would eat some. Well as I was eating, I came to find out that the meat we were eating was dog. So I can add that to the many things I have eaten out here. It actually wasn't that bad, little bit of a smoky flavor but the northerners love to eat it.

Right after the tamale zone conference president asked if we would drive up to Bolgatanga for an exchange with some elders. So we took the two elders with us and drove another three hours north to Bolgatanga. Driving outside of Kumasi is great. You go from the city to the Bush. There are little towns every so often and the further north you get it gets very flat. There aren't many hills at all and it's all flat with some trees and grass. It's very beautiful. I love the villages you see along the way. The houses are made out of mud and they are little round mud huts. They have grass roofs and actually look pretty cool. There are usually about 4-7 of the huts in a circle connected by mud walls and that's where a family will stay. One day I want to stop and meet some of the people who stay there. I didn't have time this past week so maybe next month when we go. I tried to get some pictures but it didn't work out to well, next time I'll try to take some better pictures.

Bolgatanga is the very top of out mission and that next day on Saturday we had an exchange with these elders. It was my first time going up that far and I absolutely loved Bolga. They speak English up there and it took me awhile to get used to the little kids speaking English and the older people speaking English as well. I was not used to that at all because in Kumasi they don't like English. I was able to go with elder Simpson and we had such a good exchange. We met so many great people and had some great experiences.

Yesterday we left around 8:30am from Bulga and traveled back to Kumasi. It took about 10 hours to get back so we were pretty tired. I have officially been from top to bottom in our mission.

When we got back Sunday evening, the Coombs (an office couple that we are close with) had made chili and cornbread for Halloween and so we were grateful for that after a long car ride. I honestly forgot it was Halloween until we got back and they had made dinner for us. But it is nice to be back in our own apartment again.

This next week the busyness continues. We have three more zone conferences and two more exchanges this week and then we are getting ready for transfers. This transfer has flown by and I feel like I just got here to my area. I know that these next couple transfers that I am assistant, they will fly by.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween and a great October, happy November! I hope all is well back home, thank you for the love and support. I love and appreciate it you guys
