More Obrunis Have Arrived!

Hey oo!!

Well it has been a good but yet again another crazy week this week. We had transfers and I am staying in Bantama for another transfer. I am loving Bantama and I am glad to stay for another transfer. I will have stayed here for 6 months so it's been a good time. With the transfer we combined Bantama and Obuasi so elder Mbuyi and I cover both now. We went from 8 missionaries to 20 missionaries so we are enjoying! Our zone is really big now, Obuasi is about 3 hours away depending in traffic so we will have to find out ways to balance everything.

We did transfers different this transfer. We didn't all meet at Bantama like we usually do. President left it to the individuals to get to their new areas. It ended up falling on us zone leaders which wasn't ideal. The good thing was that we got 15 new obrunis. Elder Green is the newest obruni to the Bantama zone haha. He is from Utah and actually is from Kaysville which was part of my mission in the states. He spent the night in my apartment before we sent him to Obuasi and I'm sure he appreciated that. I know I would have when I first got to Ghana. I remember back to when I first got here and how crazy everything was. It will be nice because we will go down to Obuasi once or twice a week so I'll be able to see him and help him out a bit. It is nice to have more Americans though! They are much needed

This next transfer will probably be our busiest yet. Now that we cover Obuasi and have more missionaries. This past week we weren't able to be in our area due to transfers. Today we are taking a bus to Obuasi to see our areas down there and we will stay for district counsels on Tuesday. We will come back Wednesday and then Thursday we have MLC all day. We have exchanges on Friday and then on Saturday one of our elders in Obuasi needs us to do a baptismal interview for them so we will need to travel back down to Obuasi again on Friday night and come back Saturday. Haha it's going to be crazy but with the lords help it will all work out.

We have been working hard in our area. We have found many people who are interested. We are teaching lots so like I mentioned we will have to find a balance with everything. But I would rather be busy then not! I'm excited for the new transfer and the opportunity it will bring

Time is flying by and I know it's because we have been so busy. Before I know it, it will be the beginning of the year and I'll have 6 months left. Super crazy. I am still learning every day and am grateful for the lords hand in this work.

I hope all yall have been doing well. I'm jealous my fam is enjoying the beach but soon I will join them haha. Hopefully you guys are staying safe and having fun. I love you all and am grateful for the love and support. Make it a great week this week!

Love Elder Morgan.

Hunting Chickens and Making Fufu

 Hey!

Kafra this email will be a short one. We had a great week. Week 5 of the transfer has finished and on to the last week of the transfer. We had a successful week as we prepared and baptized 6 people yesterday. It was such a sight to see them all sitting there in white. It was a great way to end the transfer, this week we will now prepare for the next transfer.

We had a district activity in which we all cooked and pounded fufu. There was tons of fufu and light soup so I wasn't complaining. Haha many of the Ghanaians are surprised when they find out I can pound the fufu because not many white people have the chance to pound. They always get a good laugh when I go to help them.

We had exchanges with the assistants in Daban on Thursday. I had the chance to go with Elder Yancey in his area. We had a good time and I learned lots. We helped one of his members kill, pluck and cook some chicken so I'll send some pictures of that.

We found out on Saturday that missionaries would have the chance to get vaccinated for Covid 19 and so this morning I got vaccinated. We had three of our zones meet early and some missionaries got the vaccine and some didn't. It was a one time shot and so I won't have to go again.

That sums up this week though! Like I mentioned this week we will be able to relax small and plan for the next transfer. I hope all y'all are doing wonderful! Thank you for the love and support. I love you guys!

Going Forward in Faith..And Carrying Water on Your Head

Hi everyone.

I had another good week this past week! I am still loving Bantama and my time on mission. We have had some cool experiences and have really seen the lords hand in our work this week. Elder Mbuyi and I have been working really hard on putting our faith first. Acting and going forward not knowing exactly how we will accomplish our goals. But knowing that God would help us out. We set our goals for the month and we have gone forward really trying to find the people that the lord has prepared for us to teach.

I can't tell you how wonderful our God is. When you go forward with faith and do your part, you really do see miracles happen. We had been looking for some candidates to be baptized and again we didn't know who they would be but we had set a goal. We went out everyday, praying for guidance and looking for those God was preparing. My eyes were opened up and this is why I love the gospel so much. We were guided to some great people who we have developed great friendships with.

We have 5 people who will be baptized this coming Sunday. One of which is a guy named Eric. Eric lives in North Suntreso and lives just near the church. A place we walk by every day. Eric has been seeing us walking by his compound every day for a while now and noticed something different about us. One day he called out to us and asked us why we were so happy all the time. He asked some follow up questions about what we were doing and why a white guy was in Ghana haha. We were able to tell him what we do as missionaries and tell him about the church. He was so happy to see us and said that this was what he has been looking for. Our friend Eric was being prepared and it really showed me how much we impact those around us.

People watch us all the time and it brings the question I ask myself all the time, am I truly representing Jesus Christ? Do I act like him, do I emulate him? I am definitely not perfect but this gentleman noticed that there was something different about my companion and I. In my life I have learned time and time again that a smile goes a long way. When we are happy, we have the ability to make those around us happy. This wasn't the first time this has happened but it was just another testimony builder for me this week. God is good

We have been able to help our elders and sisters out quite a bit this week. Our zone is really close, we are able to joke and laugh but are also able to have spiritual experiences together. It has been one of my favorite zones so far. We had the chance to go to our elders area in Nkaransa. We met some of their members and ended with mama Sarah. Haha one thing out here in Ghana is that most families have to fetch water from either the well or the local pump. So mama Sarah needed our help fetching water down the road. Lets just say it is not one of my talents. Carrying a big bucket of water on your head  is not as easy as it sounds. I definitely got wet in the process, and it is a heck of a work out. We then helped her cook banku and okoro soup and chopped. There really are some great members out here.

We will have another busy week this week but I'm looking forward to it. We will be preparing our friends for their baptism on Sunday
so we are looking forward to that. I hope you all had a great week! I hope you guys had fun and are still staying safe. Thank you again for the love and support. I love you all!!

A Ghanian Funeral and African Pancakes

Hello!

This week was another busy one, we had our zone conference on Thursday. We were combined with two other zones and president changed the time so it is now only from 9-12. The zone conference was great, elder Mbuyi and I had the opportunity to give an instruction as well. There are still plenty changes happening, and more will come. The African missionaries are adjusting small small but this zone conference was good for them, the spirit was strong.

An inactive member of the church called us about a week ago and wanted us to come and help with her mom's funeral. We went on Saturday and were able to meet the rest of the family. It was really nice meeting them especially because one of the families was from Pennsylvania and another couple from London. It was nice chatting with them. Then on Sunday
we attended our sister's baptisms and had our zone come with us to attend the funeral. Ghanaian funerals are very big keep in mind. There are tons of traditions and things you have to do when you go to a funeral. One thing was that when you get there they have about 10 tents set up in a horse shoe. There will be plenty people and in order to sit down you have to go to the front and walk around this horse shoe waving to everyone. Only then can you sit down. So we got up in front of everyone and waved and then sat down. We were able to help the family with the rest of the funeral so they appreciated that.

Today we had a district activity and my sisters taught us how to make pancakes. And again this isn't like pancakes back home, we made the African pancake. It was actually pretty good, for being in Africa. We ate food and played games, it was a fun day.

I have really been enjoying the work and it's because I am just diving into everything. I am loving the people in Bantama, my companion and the experiences I am having! There truly is no greater work. I don't have anymore updates besides the covid update. The president of Ghana has said that we have to wear masks in public and if we don't then we will go into another lock down. They are now enforcing it in the streets again which means people are getting whipped again. My companion and I are trying to stay out of trouble and wear our masks but we will see how it goes.

Thank you all for the love and support it means a lot. Stay cool and enjoy the week!
