Waiting on a New Companion

Hi everyone!

Well this was the last week of the transfer! Elder John and I stayed in the apartment for most of the week and said some goodbyes for elder John. We went to the mission home on Tuesday and stayed till Thursday. Man it was so nice having air conditioning for two days. I slept very well and president and his wife fed us very nice. Overall I am not complaining, it was a tender mercy being able to go to the mission home even if it was just for two days.

The week came to an end and today my companion left to the mission home and I stayed in Bantama with my elders. We are in a trio until Wednesday. We got everything situated with elder john and then another set of elders joined us in our apartment because they have to travel to the mission home early in the morning. So there are five elders staying in the apartment tonight and another set will join us tomorrow night. They all come from far to stay in our apartment for transfers as we are very close. So it will be a fun week this week! I'll get a new companion and start pushing forward.

I'll have more to update all y'all on next week. But I am excited for the week to come! I am excited for the change and new things to come. Thank you all for your love and support, I appreciate it. I hope you guys had a great week this week. I love you all!

Elder John is going home

Hello everyone!

Well once again I had another solid week this past week! This will be a shorter email so I apologize for that. I think I mentioned that my companion has been having some physical and mental health issues. We got a call at the beginning of the week and our mission president said that he thought it would be best if Elder John goes home. He told us to wait and take it easy and that he would call us back for when that would be. He called us and asked Elder John if he would like to go with the other missionaries that were going home at the transfer and my companion said yes. So my companion won't go home until June 3rd. My mission president again told me that I had permission to stay in the apartment and help my companion until then.

So this past week we have just been inside and my companion has been resting. We have gone out a bit, and we actually met a guy named James. He is a stud and is interested in learning more. It was so nice being able to teach again as it has been a little while since I have been able to go out. I definitely miss it, but I know I am supposed to be here with my companion helping him. Once everything is okay and I get a new companion I'll be excited to go out.

Our mission president called us again and said that he would like us at the mission home for a week before my companion goes. Either tonight or tomorrow we will head to the mission home and stay there until transfers next Wednesday. I don't know if I'll get my new companion on transfer day or before that, but I guess we will see what happens!

Sorry nothing else exciting happened this week. We are still pressing forward and finding joy in the little things! I am still loving my time out here and learning as much as I can each and every day. I love this gospel so much and am greatful for the opportunities I get to share it with those around me.

Thank all y'all for the love and support once again it means more then you know. I love you guys and hope you had a wonderful week, keep up the good work!

Prepared by the Lord

Hello everyone!!

I had another great week this week! It was a bit slower as my comp still isn't 100% but we did have zone conference!

Like I mentioned my companion is going through some health problems at the moment so we have had to stay inside most of the week as he hasn't been up to going out. While he gets his rest I am able to get some more study time in so it has been good for me. Staying inside is definitely not my favorite but sometimes you don't always get what you want haha. I'm just praying that my companion gets better quick.

Wednesday night came around and my companion was supposed to be preparing an instruction for zone conference the next day. He was struggling and his mind just wasn't in the right place so he called the APs and told them he wasn't able to give the instruction at zone conference. With no time to ask someone else they asked if I would give the instruction. I said no problem as I actually enjoy giving them. But I didn't have much time to prepare for it as zone conference was that following morning. It definitely helped that I had that extra time to study and I can know see that the lord was preparing me for that instruction. I prepared what I could and relied on the lord for the rest. I was just praying that the spirit would be there with me. Zone conference came around and I gave a great instruction! I can't say it was me because the spirit was very strong and definitely present. It was just a really good experience for me. The lord truly does have a plan for each and every one of us, and he knows a lot more then we do. Sometimes we just have to take a step back and rely upon him to get us through. The rest of zone conference was great as usual, president and sister Webster only have one more zone conference after this one! Super Crazy, time is zoomin by

We had interviews with president the following day and agian while meeting with him, my prayers were answered. I was able to recieve guidance and direction which was very nice. Man I love meeting with president, he is someone I love and look up to. Him and his wife are studs

Those are really the highlights for the week, nothing to drastic. But yet again I was able to see the Lords hand in this great work. I was able to see so many great things. I love this work and I am so greatful I am here in Africa to go through these experiences. I am just trying to learn lots and come closer to my Savior. So far it is going well, but I have a long way to go!

I hope you all had a great week though! Thank you again for all the love and support it means a lot. And remember Jesus loves you! I love all yall. Have a good week this week!

Obruni! Obruni!

Hi everyone!!

Well I am still having a great time out here in Bantama! Elder John and I are finding new ways to move the work forward. This past week has been busy as we had a mission leadership council and exchanges. It's been a good week though!

Elder John is still in pain so we haven't been able to go out as much as we would like but we are pushing through! We will be visiting the hospital this week to see if we can help him.

We had an MLC (mission leadership counsel) activity on Wednesday! It was actually very fun. All of the Zone leaders and Sister training leaders got together and we played volleyball, soccer and ate pizza. It was nice being with everyone as most of the obruni's (white people) out here are in leadership so I got a chance to see all of them. The following day we had our MLC, it was my first one and I loved it. It was all day and we just talked about the mission with the leadership and ways we could improve and such. It was also a plus to go in the morning because the mission president gives everyone an obruni breakfast. Which is just cereal haha us obruni's love it but the Africans don't like it so much haha.

We had the chance to go proselyting with the sisters this week and last and it was really nice to be able to help them in their areas. We were able to teach some of their investigators and contact a bit as well. All of the missionaries I have served with in my district/zone in this area and my last area want me to go proselyting with them because I am white haha. They say that people will actually talk to them if I am with them. If they are by themselves, people won't even mind them. But when I go everyone starts to yell obruni obruni! And will come up to me and touch my skin and hair and they like to talk with me. We had some fun experiences when we went proselyting with them and so now they want me to come with them more often haha. We try to have fun with our missionaries in our zone because missionary life is not easy. A lot of them are struggling and are having a hard time. This is why we are spending more time with them. We are going to start focusing on them more. We will still work in our area but just find new ways to help our elders and sisters. One thing we have implemented is Uno night haha. After we go proselyting with a companionship we then go and close the day and end with an intense game of Uno. I brought some cards with me from the states and it has been so much fun! It just gives us a chance to show others that we work hard, but we can still have fun. It has been a success and so I think we will keep the Uno nights going.

We have been teaching two friends in our area. Brother bright and brother Stephen. They both excepted to be baptized this past weekend so we were preparing them for their baptisms. After church I had the chance to baptize Stephen and it turned out great. Bright told his mom Sunday morning that he was getting baptized and she wasn't the happiest and so he asked if we could postpone the baptism. We said no problem and that we would work with him and his mom.

We have zone conference this week! I am excited, we will be joined by two other zones and so it will be fun. We are already half way through the transfer which is crazy. There really isn't to much else to update all y'all on. I haven't been eating any gross food as we are making most of it ourselves. I am not complaining about that. I am still sweating away out here, but somehow gaining weight haha. I am having fun though, I am enjoying and finding ways to press forward. Finding ways to help others enjoy the work when it isn't the easiest. I have had some good experiences to show me how to see the positive and how to adapt to your situations. I just have to find ways to help my missionaries find and experience that.

I hope you all had a fantastic week, and a great mother's day yesterday. I appreciate all the love and support. Thanks for everything and have a great week this week! I hope all y'all know that God loves you so so much!! He really does and I am grateful for that knowledge. He has blessed me in so many ways. I am learning lots out here and having a good time so no need to worry about me. I love you all!
