Winding Down in Roy Utah

Hello everyone!!!

It has been a solid past couple weeks, full of teaching, snow, and transfers!

It has been real cold out here in Utah the past couple months. It hasn't snowed for awhile but it just snowed a lot on Saturday, so that's been fun. I actually really enjoy the snow, it will be a bit different going to Africa in about a week and a half. I will go from one extreme to the other, but I'm excited!

We are continuing to teach the two kids that we baptized. Aiden is solid and has been going through a lot with his family. But his testimony is super strong, he has had to do some things that no nine year old should have to go through. We are super proud of him though. Nikko the other kid we baptized actually has the opportunity to get sealed to his family in the bountiful temple! They called our mission president and got permission for us to go with them! So on Wednesday we will go with them to the bountiful temple and watch them get sealed as a family, we are super excited for them.

Today were transfers!!! I only have about a week and a half and so I will be in a trio with Elder Morrissey and Elder Vea until I head out. We are combining the stake again so we will cover 7 wards and a branch. We are super excited to be in a trio and combining our areas. It's gonna be a good last week and a half. We will end off strong before I head out.

I actually got my flight plans today for the 4th and it is starting to hit me that I am actually leaving for Ghana in a bit. I am super excited though, I have loved the past 6 months here in good old Roy utah and I am excited for the next year and a half in Ghana. Next pday will be my last one before I head out!! That's crazy, but I hope all yall are doing great. I hope you guys are staying safe and having fun. Thanks again for the love and support, love you all

Teaching and Serving - Last few weeks in Layton, Utah

Hello everyone!

Elder Morrissey and I had a solid week this week. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. We have been focusing on our nonmembers, and we have had some really neat experiences. We actually found two new people to teach, we had more but they were sick so we had to reschedule. Kennedy is one of the new people we found, she is 9 years old and she is awesome! Her mom is slowly coming back to church and so we will start to teach the both of them. Jesus Sandoval is the other person that we found. He was previously taught by the missionaries and due to Covid he stopped. We called him and set up a time to go over and meet him and his family. They are another stud family we have started to teach

The work still continues to move forward during Covid. We have actually set up lessons with 7 more new people this week and more are in the works! Most of them are either former people who have been taught or others who we have just run into. It's nice to finish off my time here in Roy staying busy and pushing the work forward. Elder Morrissey will definitely be busy when I leave so that will be good. It's crazy I only have two weeks until the transfer ends and three weeks until I am off to Africa. Time really does go by fast when you are staying busy.

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. I love hearing the stories from back home and keeping in touch with all y'all. Love you guys!

Baptisms and Pickle Ball

 Hello everybody!!

I hope you all had a wonderful past week. Our week was great! We stayed busy and had some cool experiences, what more could you ask for? We are still teaching a lot of member lessons but are turning our focus towards other efforts. We are focusing on other ways to find new people to teach. These past two weeks we have been implementing this and it has been great!

We had our baptisms this past weekend! Nikko's baptism was on Saturday and it was such a good service, the spirit was so strong. We had Aiden's baptism on Sunday and it was another great service! Elder Morrissey and I gave talks for both baptisms. One funny story from Aiden's baptism. As we were getting ready to start, Aiden and his father were going to go change. They left the door to the baptismal font open and Aiden's little brother ran through the door and the next thing we know, we hear this big splash. Aiden's little brother, who is 3, ran and jumped into the baptismal font in full church clothes! Brother Bundy was there and had to go in to get him because he couldn't swim haha. So we had an exciting start to the baptism! Once we all got settled and Aiden's brother got changed we had a good time and felt the spirit.

Our preparation day was pretty normal, we went to the store and chilled at the house for a bit. I had talked with the AP's this past week and they had mentioned them playing pickle ball, and I was like wait we are allowed to play pickle ball? And they said yes. So apparently this whole time I have been here we could have played pickle ball on preparation days. So we busted it out and played pickle ball for a couple hours, and got a little tournament going. So we started the week off with some fun but that's the update for the week!

I hope you are all doing well, and are having a great start to your new year. I love you all and am grateful for your love and support.

A Christmas Surprise - Malachi's Headed to the Kumasi Ghana Mission!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We had another great week this past week, full of lessons, walks, service, and Christmas!! We continue to teach members and our friends Nikko and Aiden who are still on date to be baptized Jan 2nd and Jan 3rd. We are continuing to plan their baptisms so that has been fun! We helped out Brother Taylor with his deck again, and we are now ready for the decking to go on top. We had a ward activity this past weekend in which the ward had dinner for everyone and the ward members drove around the church to pick it up. The bishop and us two elders were outside in the cold giving people their food. It was actually really fun! It was nice to get out and to see some members of the ward. This past Sunday was very nice, the Sunday before Christmas. We went to three sacrament meetings and they all had Christmas programs with musical numbers and such. The spirit was so strong, and reminded me of Christmas back home.

Christmas was a bit different then being at home, but hey what can you expect when you're on your mission during covid. Our mission president changed our Preparation day to today (Christmas). He asked us to share the message of Jesus Christ with those who would be home alone on Christmas. and then the rest of the day was just a day to relax and call the family. We still aren't able to accept anything from members, so Elder Morrissey and I made crepes this morning and will attempt to make something tonight for dinner. We will see how that goes. It was nice to call the family, and to see them open their presents. It sounds like all y'all are having a great Christmas.

Oh ya I almost forgot! I got some pretty big news two days ago. I got a call on Wednesday night from my mission president, and he asked me if I had gotten an email for my itinerary. I proceeded to tell him that I didn't know what he was talking about and an itinerary for what? He then said, well Elder Morgan I guess I am the first to tell you.....I just got word today that you will be going to Ghana February 4th. It totally caught me by surprise, and president literally just said alright Merry Christmas and have a good night and hung up! I was like what the heck just happened haha. I had totally pushed the idea of being able to go out to Ghana away, so I could focus on the work here in good old Roy Utah. I don't think I have fully processed it yet, but I am so excited! So when I leave February 4th I will have been in Roy Utah for 6 months and Ghana for a year and a half. But that is the big news I got this past week, so I got one more month in Roy and then I will be off to Ghana!

I hope you are all celebrating with your families right now, and having a good old time. I hope you are all staying safe, love you lots

Love,

Elder Morgan
