Service and Transfers

Hello everybody!

This week has been another great week, we had a good number of lessons, and are starting to make progress with our missionary efforts. We had a lot of service opportunities, as well. So we have been trying to stay busy. Today is transfers! I will be staying in Roy and Elder Kline and I will be staying together to finish off my training. Most of my house is staying together, but Elder Peterson is leaving so we will miss him. Tomorrow I get the opportunity to go get my yellow fever shot for my last vaccination for Africa, just in case I end up going. I'm looking forward to that haha. We got some rain on Saturday! We had our carwash planned in the morning so we postponed it to the afternoon due to the weather. We didn't have the best turn out due to the change of plans and the weather but we were able to contact a few new people that day so it was worth it. This next week we also have Zone conference which I am really excited for!

I just want you guys to know, that you guys are the best. The gospel is true and God loves each and every one of you. I hope you all are doing well! Love you guys, email me! I would love to talk. Have a great week.

Love Elder Morgan.

Destructive Wind Storms and Donuts

Hello everyone!!

This week has been busy but so good! On Tuesday we had a bad wind storm hit us. We had 70mph winds which was bad but actually wasn't as bad as other places around us. We had a trampoline fly into our backyard, trees were knocked down, etc. So we did a ton of service this week! We cut down a couple trees, and really just helped whoever was effected by the storm.

The missionary work is going well. We have had two lessons with Susan, and she is progressing! She is finally starting to let us come by and teach her, and we are hoping to start teaching her daughter as well. We got our first referral on area book, which is a big thing because since Covid and since I have been here we haven't gotten any referrals from area book so we are going to pursue that tonight. We are still teaching members, and working with them, but we got an email from the area presidency and we got one new update. We can teach lessons in homes but only if we are invited, and we can only stay in the home for 15-20 min so I guess we will see how that works going forward

I found out that we are able to go fishing on pdays! So we went this morning and it has been fun being able to go to the local pond! It gives us something to do with all of the restrictions. This is the last week of the transfer, so next Monday I will most likely have some news about who is getting transferred!

Fishing on P-Days!

One story before I let you go. So Wednesday morning we have district counsel, were we basically have a devotional in our district. We are almost done with the meeting and we hear some car screeching in the back parking lot, and then a load bang. We are all in a room together, and it was very loud so we go and look out the window. Apparently some kid decided to do donuts in the church parking lot and over corrected and hit the curb and flew into a fence. He decided it was a good idea to try and reverse and try to drive away but his back tire was in the air and was in a fence so he wasn't able to. That kid had a bad day, we found out later that it was one of the ward mission leaders sons and he took the car out for a spin. But that and the storm were the exciting parts of my week!

I hope you all are doing well, love you guys!!

Service, Chick fil A, and a Gun!

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great Labor Day weekend!!

This week has been good, we have still been teaching a lot of member lessons and trying to do a lot of service to keep us busy. I have a quick story for y'all.

The Thurman's are an older part-member family who we got the chance to do service for this past week. They are both old and can't do much maintenance on there 3 acre lot. Brother Thurman had a brain bleed awhile ago and his memory hasn't been the same since. So we went to help them with some service We loaded up everything in his truck, but then he couldn't find his keys! We asked him if they were in his pockets and when he checked he pulled out a gun! It was a little shotgun pistol, and it totally caught us off guard. Elder Peterson and I asked him about it and if he had ever had to use it. He told us that he doesn't even know how to use it (due to his memory loss) but that he brings it with him everywhere, and he wanted to show us the bullets but didn't remember how to open the gun. So there he was fiddling with the gun and trying to open it, with the gun loaded, all the while pointing the gun in our direction. Elder Peterson and I took a step or two back since we didn't want to get shot by this old man! Eventually after a while of him struggling, we asked if he wanted our help, and we opened it up for him. He then proceeded to tell us that he has over 100 guns in a safe but he can't remember the code to get in! Elder Peterson and I laughed so hard. But we have grown close with them over this week.

Service with Brother Thurman

Elder Kline has a friend back home that we have been able to teach. He just graduated and has done research into a lot of different religions. He has read a lot of anti letters and so we have had two lessons with him so far. It has been good talking with him. He has had a lot of family issues and really challenging situations. But it has been cool to see his perspective change on certain things. We are going to teach him again this week so we are excited for that

We had zone conference this week! That was on Thursday and it was so good! It was nice being able to meet other missionaries and hear from president call. Besides the unfortunate news of no sports and no member meals whatsoever it was a super spiritual conference. I learned a ton, and am grateful for the leadership in the mission. The local Chick fil A donated lunch!

Zone Conference!

Chick fil a!

I hope you all are doing well, and had a great Labor Day weekend! Love you guys, email me if you want to talk! I would love to hear from you guys.

Love,

Elder Morgan
